GELORA BUNG KARNO

Rebranding Indonesia’s first and main stadium

Gelora Bung Karno is Indonesia’s first and main National Stadium, a multi-purpose stadium located at the center of the capital city Jakarta, Indonesia. The iconic stadium is named after Sukarno, the 1st President of Indonesia, and was built in 1960. Gelora Bung Karno represents the nation’s fighting spirit in pursuit of greatness and championships.

In 2018 the stadium hosted the 18th Asian Games and Asian Para Games. The rebranding of a 58-year-old brand is made to firmly put GBK in the international venue map and reintroduce one of Indonesia’s iconic heritage venues for the new generation.

An integrated brand identity was redesign to make it relevant and connect the brand to a wider range of today’s audiences.

Rebranding Indonesia’s first

and the main stadium.

Gelora Bung Karno is one of Indonesia’s iconic heritage venues. The new GBK brand identity is inspired from three elements, the first letter G represents the shape of the stadium from the top view, the letter B represents the bow of Rama from the legend of Ramayana, and the last letter K represents the spirit of Bung Karno, Indonesia’s first president.
